Riverside Area Youth Soccer League would not exist if it weren't for volunteers. We are a non-profit club run COMPLETELY by the efforts of parents and volunteers.

All parents are charged a $60 volunteer fee which is refunded after fulfilling volunteer duties, though parents or guardians may pay the opt-out fee and choose not to volunteer for the program. Most volunteers choose to help to run the Snack Shack for one hour during the season. The Snack Shack is open each Saturday from 9 - 12:30 and Sundays from 12:30 - 5:30, travel schedule dependent. Alternatively, parents can choose one volunteer position from the categories listed below.

Our recent record player registrations have pushed our total players over 250 registered players and increased our travel team count by four. As you can imagine, with this many players it takes many volunteers to make this league successful each year. For this season alone, RAYSL will need the following:

  • Over 35 volunteer coaches
  • Between 8-12 referees
  • 60 concessions volunteers

When registering your child this season, please consider volunteering, rather than simply paying the volunteer fee. We need help in all areas: coaching, concessions, refereeing, team parents and even painting lines.

Volunteer Positions

  • YES Coach Housing -- Each season, RAYSL utilizes the services of Youth Elite Soccer, an organization of professional soccer trainers who work with RAYSL players and coaches.  These trainers ensure the future health of the organization by providing skills instruction and "train the trainer" services for our coaches and board. YES Trainers are experienced soccer players, typically from England's club system, who spend the entire season working with our players and teaching our own coaches. They become immersed in the Riverside community and become an integral part of our teams. RAYSL receives a significant discount on coaching services when we house our YES trainers and though they are already provided with a car and a per diem, the comfortable place to lay their head is important to becoming part of the organization.
  • Coaching -- Head Coach & Assistant Coach positions, both for practices and game day.
  • Team Manager -- Handles all game info for team and communicates weekly game and practice schedules via text and email, directions for AWAY games, cancelations, coordinates handouts and picture day for the team. Team Managers are needed for both our Travel Program and our In-House Program.
  • Cleats Exchange Coordinator -- Handles organization and cleanliness of our cleats display, coordinates cleats trade-ins, communicates to club when cleats are available and arranges for days/times to pick up cleats from the equipment trailer.
  • Fundraising Program Coordinator -- Researches new fundraising opportunities and presents them to the RAYSL board, coordinates fundraisers including marketing, scheduling, merchandising, organizing volunteers and Club communications.
  • In-House Program Coordinator -- [APPOINTED POSITION] Typically two or three volunteers who determine the number of teams per age group in conjunction with RAYSL Board, builds team rosters, recruits players and coaches as necessary, orders and distributes shirts, communicates practice and game plans to players and parents, coordinates hand-outs and works with YES Coach to address any situation involving that age group.
  • Travel Program Coordinator -- [APPOINTED POSITION] Forms team rosters, recruits players and coaches as necessary, communicates and works with Team Managers and works with Team Managers and Coaches to address any situation involving our Travel Program.
  • Referee Assignor -- [APPOINTED POSITION] Coordinates and schedules referees for Travel Program home games, helps to determine referee payment rates, determines the need for additional referees, schedules or informs of classes for any entry level certification, re-certification or "bridge" classes for referees to move into higher levels of refereeing.  The Referee Assignor must obtain club-paid certification prior to assuming the position.
  • Snack Shack Manager -- [APPOINTED POSITION] Handles ordering and merchandising Snack Snack including restocking, schedules volunteers for for the season.

If you have any questions, or would like to volunteer for one of the above positions, please contact us at [email protected] or message us at our Facebook page

Thank you so much for your consideration. RAYSL is only as strong as the men and women behind our players!
